Success also means sharing it with others, and our CEO Vanessa Best did such on a recent interview guesting on the Chinese Radio Network, a US based media outlet that aims to bolster business opportunities with valuable expert advice from different professionals.
“It is an honor for me to have been asked to participate and humbly share with them what I have learned as a businesswoman,” says Best. “Maya Angelou believed that we shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. We need to be able to throw something back.”
In the said interview, Best shared her insights on running a successful business, Precision HealthCare Consultants, in addition to practical and ethical tips on how to secure government contracts (both state and federal).
Through the years, Best has earned accolades in the healthcare industry. According to her, one of the secrets to success is treating business relationships with respect.
“There is a sense of give and take,” she says. When working with agencies, especially government offices, Best advises fellow entrepreneurs to be proactively assertive. “Don’t just ask what an agency can do for you and vice versa. Your approach should be like, ‘This is what needs to be done, and I have a solution for that.’ Each agency has a professional forecast of their needs and all have their respective small business specialists. Their job is to connect you to the decision makers. On your part, you should do your research, then become a solution.”
Another crucial tip that Best shares in the interview is how small businesses should be savvy to utilize resources available to them, such as the programs offered by the US Small Business Administration (SBA).
“I love helping people,” says Best, on why she has shared her knowledge with the Chinese Radio Network. “My late mother instilled in me the principle that there is more happiness in giving than receiving. She was a hard worker and a great motivator. Working hard is in my blood.”
